As a young girl growing up in the Puno region of the Peruvian Highlands, Faustina Herma Roque Ticona—or ‘Herma’—helped her family raise alpacas. Her mother taught her to knit at an early age, using only sticks as knitting needles, along with a small, traditional hand loom. Over the years, Herma became an exceptional knitter, and has been handcrafting knits for INDIGENOUS since 2000.
